太行山山高土薄，种田不挣钱，村里许多人进城打工，而山西和顺县许村的村民白风明却承包了无人耕种的200多亩荒地。他梦想有一天能耕种1000亩土地，过上富裕的日子。耕种3年的荒地刚有收成，承包到期的100亩地又被收回，白风明只好远走他乡，在新承包的土地上，去继续实现他耕种1000亩地的梦想。Photographer Greg Nolan meets Bernice, and loses both his job and his apartment. However, Bernice manages to get him a new apartment, but it is so expensive that he has to get two full-time jobs. Nolan has trouble finding time to do them both without his bosses finding out.。
