在罗马，马蒂亚、马西莫、里卡多和路易吉这四个多年好友面对女权崛起的世界感到茫然无措，并试图以自己的方式去应对。。本剧讲述了失去丈夫的苏小艾和“被冤枉”薛礼强之间的哀怨情仇。通过故事的情节展开，苏小艾明白了薛礼强并非害丈夫的对象，而对薛礼强不断的“补偿”感到内疚而爱上对方，但是却遭受薛孩子的反对。最终苏小艾通过自己的爱心感动了孩子，赢得了迟到的一声“妈妈”。而薛礼强的妹妹却利用自己的美貌占有了富豪的家庭，最终却乐极生悲，失去一切。。Subjects of Desire is a thought provoking film that examines the cultural shift in beauty standards towards embracing (or appropriating) Black aesthetics and features, deconstructing what we understand about race and the power behind beauty.。
