电视剧《冰山上的来客》是根据1963年的经典电影《冰山上的来客》改编的，这部片子曾激励了几代人的奋斗与成长，40年后两拨儿“冰山来客”要在荧屏聚首。电视剧《冰山上的来客》虽然改编自同名电影，但导演戴冰的手法不同于以往红色经典的改编，戴冰根据当年电影编剧白辛记录的素材，另起炉灶重新编一个故事，电视剧首尾都是新内容，只有中间一部分将老故事融入进来。之所以电视剧依然叫《冰山上的来客》，戴冰说：“新故事很大篇幅都来自电影编剧白辛记录的大量素材，另外表现的主题是不变的。”。在好朋友Dayton的帮助下，Frankie终于适应了生活并开始探索作为人类的意义。当一个新的机器人到达Sepulveda高中，并且全世界都知道了机器人的存在时，事情变得非常复杂。同时WARPA公司带来新的威胁，Frankie必须努力保持她真实身份的秘密，并保护她朋友和家人的安全。。Framing StoryDr Martin (Robert Powell) arrives at a secluded asylum "for the incurably insane" to be interviewed for a job by the wheelchair-using, authoritarian Dr Lionel Rutherford (Patrick Magee).
